Housing Opportunities For People with HIV/AIDS (HOPWA)
The Security Deposit Assistance Program (SDAP) is funded with federal appropriations made to the City of Atlanta’s Housing Opportunities for Persons living with AIDS (HOPWA) program. The purpose is to provide security deposit and first month rental assistance to people with HIV/AIDS who have a demonstrated need with establishing permanent residency.
The Tenant Based Rental Assistance program is a 6 to 12 month program designed for Members that are on the brink of self-sufficiency. It allows Members to receive a subsidy while they simultaneously work to achieve a concrete and measurable goal that is intended to result in housing stability and self-sufficiency.
AID Atlanta provides clients with housing information and resources that may help them in identifying the best housing options available to them and tailored to their particular situations. Housing Information and Resource Specialists (HIRS) are available for consultation and initial exploration of available housing resources in the community. AID Atlanta also receives private donations and support from the Joining Hearts Foundation to support our housing program and supplement housing and housing related costs that our federal grants cannot cover.
Transportation assistance is provided to individuals with little or no income who are seeking medical care, housing and other related case management services.
