Happy Pride Month!
June is Pride Month, and AID Atlanta celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community and its incredible accomplishments. This year, let’s also take a moment to recognize the resilience of our community in the face of adversity.
The LGBTQIA+ community has made great strides in recent years, but much work still needs to be done. We continue to face discrimination in all areas of our lives, from housing to employment to healthcare. In addition, close to 400 bills have been introduced in state legislatures nationwide that would restrict our rights and undo 50 years of progress. These bills target LGBTQIA+ people, women, and other marginalized groups.
We must stand up to these attacks on our freedom. We must let elected officials know we will not tolerate discrimination or oppression. We must vote for candidates who will fight for our rights.
This Pride Month, let’s recommit ourselves to fighting for equality and justice for all.
Let’s continue to build strong communities and support each other. We are stronger together.
