Dedrick Burch – Champion for Hope
Today, we’re celebrating Dedrick Burch, AID Atlanta volunteer extraordinaire, as one of our 40 Champions for 40 Years of Hope! Dedrick started his volunteer work at AID Atlanta with the HIV/STI Infoline in 2017 but has continued to offer his time and efforts by volunteering for all of our special events as well. You may have actually seen him at any one of our community events over the years! Before joining the AID Atlanta family, Dedrick was a Pharmacist for 42 years. He spent the first two decades of his career working with the public in retail pharmacy and the last two decades working for a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). During his days working for the HMO, Dedrick spent a lot of time collaborating with physicians to develop good prescribing practices, which he found both challenging and rewarding. While Dedrick may have retired from pharmacy, he has not slowed down at all. In addition to volunteering with AID Atlanta, Dedrick volunteers with Fox Theatre and is an avid cyclist. He’s actually cycled across the country, from coast to coast! Dani Mitchell, AID Atlanta’s Group Outreach Coordinator, can’t say enough good things about Dedrick, “He is professional, personable, smart, and an absolute joy to work with. We consider him woven into the very fabric of our AID Atlanta family.”We truly couldn’t do what we do without our amazing volunteers, especially people like Dedrick who bring a level of loyalty and dedication that is out of this world!
