Champion of Hope – Val Blankenship

Val Blankenship started her journey with the AIDS 101 program at AID Atlanta in 1992 to support a close family friend. It was the early m90s when there were little to no effective treatments, and our volunteers worked really hard to get the education out into the community. The AIDS 101 volunteer committee members also became lifelong friends, and I am so grateful that we all met while doing such meaningful work for our city. Some of my favorite memories with our volunteers are the social gatherings like holiday parties, pool parties, cookouts and after-seminar dinners. I am proud to still be a volunteer with the AIDS 101 program 30+ years later.
